Diagnosed with retinoblastoma (cancer of the retina) at the age of 3 months, Cortez is currently undergoing chemotherapy. His left eye, which is blind, will soon be removed and replaced with a mechanical eye. Cortez loves toys with lots of sounds, lights and colors.

Diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma (cancer of the muscle tissue) in April 2004, Oscar is currently undergoing chemotherapy to further shrink the tumor in his abdomen that was once the size of a grapefruit. He likes Sesame Street —Cookie Monster is his favorite—Disney movies and wooden puzzles. And his most prized possession is his green and white striped Celtics cap.

Diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma (cancer of the muscle tissue) in January 2004, Elijah has completed his radiation treatment and is halfway through chemotherapy. He enjoys playing pool—he’s quite the shark—fishing and any outdoor activity. And most of all, he loves farm equipment.

Diagnosed with lymphoma (cancer of the lymph system) in January 2002, Danielle received a stem cell transplant in July of 2003. And has been cancer-free ever since. She likes arts and crafts, cooking and playing with her pets. She also loves spending time with her grandma and learning about medical stuff. Who knows, in a few years she may just be Dr. P.

After being diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) of the leg in June 1991, Jill underwent chemotherapy treatments and rotationplasty surgery, requiring her to use a prosthetic leg.

She’s been cancer-free since July of 1992. Awarded the Youth Spirit of Survivorship Award by the American Cancer Society, Jill is an active participant in the Omaha cancer community, speaking to kids about her experience. She enjoys hanging out with family and studying the pearly whites—she’ll graduate from dental hygiene school in the spring.
